Three cyclists of JDRF, a major charitable 501 organization dedicated to funding type 1 diabetes research, set up a playful fund raiser by biking in place telling silly jokes at the Portland Farmers Market on the campus of Portland State University, Portland, Oregon on May 17th, 2014.
Their goal is to bike 100 miles in Death Valley, California.

I photographed the Center for Animal Law Studies Department at Lewis & Clark this past week. Documenting people and organizations that consciously strive for sustainable practices between all beings and business aligns with my sustainable philosophies. I attended two classes, followed a couple students and even made a portrait of their work-place companion.
I connected with Kathy Hessler, a Professor of the Center for Animal Law Studies whom I met at the Friends of Family Farmers InFARMation Event, September 2013 InFARMation and began to collaborate on visually presenting the Animal Law Department. I had a great time learning and engaging with such passionate individuals!

Cultivating the magic of the edible plant world for your table
Passionate farming advocate Leah Rodgers of Friends of Family Farmers, an organization working to promote and protect socially responsible agriculture in Oregon, transforms her new residential property into a community supported agriculture (CSA) urban farm. Brides for a Cause Celebrates One Year with a Weekend Anniversary Event
Business owner Erin Scharf opens her doors for a special weekend event by offering 20% off already discounted dresses. Brides-to-be, moms and their friends make their way to NE Alberta and 20th Avenue to find the dress of their dreams. I had a fantastic time dancing around the action and capturing the connections between the dress and the future bride.

BRIDES FOR A CAUSE EVENT
by Erica J Mitchell
I was given the opportunity to photograph an on tour special event hosted by Bride for a Cause. An organization that operates a circular wedding dress system where you can donate your wedding dress or purchase a once worn wedding at a fraction of the price. Half of the purchase supports the continuing efforts of Brides for a Cause to travel the dresses and the other half is sent to charity to help couples facing terminal illnesses create the wedding of their dreams.
DETAILS ABOUT BRIDES FOR A CAUSE
Brides for a Cause is a charitable wedding dress organization that collects and resells wedding dresses to raise funds charity. We are exclusively partnered with Wish Upon A Wedding, the world’s first national non profit organization that provides weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and other serious life altering circumstances. 50% of all proceeds go to the charity. We have collected more than 1,000 wedding dress donations since July 2012 and receives new dresses daily. The inventory includes a huge selection of designer, brand name and vintage-style wedding gowns. Best of all, everything is discounted up to 75% off, giving brides an opportunity to save hundreds on their wedding dress and help a great cause.
